Christmas 2022 Book Haul 📚

Hi Everyone!

Happy new year! I truly hope that this next year treats you well. Today I wanted to share my Christmas 2022 book haul, all the books that I was very kindly gifted this Christmas. I also got a few book vouchers, which I will be spending on a bookshopping day with a very lovely friend of mine very soon, so perhaps there is another book haul coming your way soon!

I also just wanted to share my end of year post again because it's one I'm very proud of, so if you haven't had the time to check it out yet then please do, by clicking here!

I just want to thank anyone who got me any of these books or gift vouchers, I truly can't wait to read them and share my thoughts with you!

Books I Chose

I want to kick this book haul off by sharing some books which I chose and which my parents then got me and gifted me for Christmas. I absolutely can't wait to read all of these!

Dumplin' by Julie Murphy

This book came into my life in a way that just felt like fate! I had just been on the phone to a very dear friend and she was giving book recommendations, and this one really stood out to me for some reason. I was in a bookshop later that same day and I'd never seen this book previously, but there it was, right in the middle of the YA section, turned facing outwards and I just had to pick it up! This is a book about self love and loving your body, and I also later found out it was a nominee for the Goodreads Choice Awards. I will definitely be reading this one very soon!

Kill Joy by Holly Jackson

Holly Jackson is the author of the A Good Girl's Guide To Murder series, and this book was originally a world book day special, but for some reason I never managed to pick it up, so when I saw this one I absolutely had to have it. This is a companion novel to the main series, and I just love these characters and this world too much to let it go quite yet!

Only Mostly Devastated by Sophie Gonzales

Sophie Gonzales is one of the co-authors of my favourite book of last year, If This Gets Out, and I've head a lot about Only Mostly Devastated, so to finally have this book is amazing! Another one I am very excited to read!

Ophelia After All by Raquel Marie

One of my friends read this book, really enjoyed it and recommended it to me. Also, I've seen a lot of bloggers rave about it, and it sounds like exactly the kind of coming-of-age story I will fall in love with. This follows Ophelia Rojas as she navigates the end of high school, boys and the fracturing of her friendship group as she discovers who she really is.

Troublemakers by Catherine Barter

As soon as I saw this one I thought it would be another guilty pleasure read for me, but it also feels like it will be very heart-warming and comforting, and I love having a book like that on my shelves for when I need it! This sounds like the perfect tale of family and rebellion, with a good dose of trouble!

Heartstopper by Alice Oseman (in French)

I've been wanting a French edition of Heartstopper for a while, and when I saw this particular edition I just could not resist. It is the most stunning Heartstopper edition and I can't wait to rediscover this story in French. For those of you who don't know, I am half French and bilingual, and I can't wait to delve back into this story (not that I'm not constantly rereading it anyway!) especially with this beautiful edition! Thank you to my French Grandma, Manou, for getting this one for me!!

Books I was Gifted

I was lucky enough to not only receive these books as surprises, but also book vouchers, as I mention above, so thank you so much to everyone who was kind enough to get these for me!

Un Soupçon de Pensées Positives

This is a French book (as you can tell by the title), which has 365 positive thoughts/quotes, and I love how small and compact it is, as well and the way it gets me to read in French! The thoughts inside are beautiful and I can't wait to read and reread it!

A Short History Of The World In 50 Places

This one was from my grandparents and it's another one that I'm excited to read and look into so thank you!

The Book Of Hope by Jane Goodall

This book was the best surprise! For those who don't know, I also have a nature blog with two (previously three) of my closest friends (you can view it here!) and I'd never heard of this book but I had of course heard of Jane Goodall, and I genuinely can't wait to get into this one - it looks SO GOOD! Thank you so much to my Aunt for gifting me this one!

Les 1001 Livres Qu'il Faut Avoir Lus Dans Sa Vie

The size of this book is very scary, but I'm looking forward to taking the time to flick through it and find the 1001 books that I must read in my lifetime! We'll see how many of them I actually get to!

Le Grand Guide Du Yoga by Kiran Vyas

I am really into Yoga and for some while have wanted a book which talks about it and I got this one from my uncle. I am currently taking part in the Yoga With Adriene 30 Day Challenge, which I love so much, and I can't wait to use this book for more inspiration after the challenge!

The Climate Book by Greta Thunberg

This really is the climate bible. I've already read some of it, and so far I just want to say that I love the way that it covers so many different areas of the complex issue of climate change and is written by experts in every field. This is a must read for anyone trying to be more environmentally conscious and I think it has the power to change so much, and so many lives.

A Bookish Gift....

I also love sharing bookish gifts in these hauls, and this year I got the most beautiful bookish gift! I think I'll just insert the picture!

It's a book light! When it is closed it looks like a normal book, but when it opens it lights up and it's just so so beautiful! I have already used it, but I think it'll be perfect for cosy, rainy reading sessions <3. Thank you so much to the person who got this for me, you know who you are!!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this post, and for being here to support me and my blog. Happy reading!

Have you read any of these books? Are any of them on your TBR? What books did you get for Christmas? Did you get any other bookish gifts?

p.s. casual magic of the day:

(If you are new here and have no idea what I'm on about, click here to find out more)

I did my morning Yoga With Adriene, and as I came to the end of the practice, you had to lie down and listen to Adriene's instructions and as I was doing this, all I could hear was the rain hammering on the window, and it was the most beautiful moment <3. So much casual magic!!

  1. that book light is SO pretty! I also love the sound of a lot of the books you mentioned, so they are definitely going on my list of things to read this year :)
My dad has the English version of the 1001 books to read before you die, and it is very daunting! However, from the few times I've flicked through it, I've found out about some really interesting-sounding books that I almost definitely wouldn't have come across otherwise.
