Welcome to another Top Ten Tuesday post and this week's theme is 'books with an adjective in the title'. I found this very difficult and several of these I haven't read. I know of so many books that have adjectives in the titles but then when it comes to my actual book collection, I couldn't find that much!
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
1. A Study In Scarlet by Arthur Conan Doyle
This is the first Sherlock Holmes book and I read it about a year ago. I really enjoyed it although I think I prefer The Hound Of The Baskervilles. Sherlock Holmes is such a classic and I can't wait to get to some more of these stories. They are very short too so don't take too long to read.
2. Things A Bright Girl Can Do by Sally Nicholls
I've talked about this book quite a bit before on here so I won't dwell on it too long but it is a book I still don't really know what to think about. I really thought I would love it and although I liked it, there was something missing and it dragged on for a bit too long. There were a few other things that frustrated me with this book and I've heard people saying the same thing.
3. The Beautiful Cassandra by Jane Austen
I am so desperate to get to this, it will definitely happen this year! It is a Penguin Little Black Classic that has some of Jane Austen's juvenilia. I have read Lady Susan, which I loved so I think this will be a great one to delve into.
4. The Manifesto On How To Be Interesting by Holly Bourne
I read this very recently, and wrote a more detailed review here. I had some mixed feelings about it but overall really liked it. I would also really like to read more from Holly Bourne soon and I think she's an author I could really grow to love. This was an enjoyable read, but if you want to know more, I encourage you to read my review!
5. Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys
I haven't read this one but it is a book that was written about a certain character in Jane Eyre. I love Jane Eyre very much and reading this book will be interesting. I am looking forward to getting to it at some point and I'm sure you will hear all about it on here when I do!
6. Only Dull People Are Brilliant At Breakfast by Oscar Wilde
This is another one of the Penguin Little Black Classics, this time a book of quotes by Oscar Wilde. I read this last year and found it very relateable and overall really liked it. I think I should make time to read back through it a bit at some point, I remember it was impactful and I think sometimes all you want is a good book of quotes.
7. Old Baggage by Lissa Evans
This is another one I read a little while ago. It is about the suffragettes and I would like to reread it. I wrote a review of it which you can read here. I don't love this post, like many of my older posts, so please don't judge the writing! I did like this book though and I recommend it if you want a good suffragette historical fiction.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this post and I hope you are all well.

Thank you! Yes some books have such wonderful titles 👌 My comments do far have all been only people having read a study in scarlet and for good reason!
DeleteI'll check out your post tomorrow! Thanks for taking the time to be here x
I read Wide Sargasso Sea a million years ago because I loved Jane Eyre so much. It's no the same, of course, but a fun way to revisit the story.
ReplyDeleteThat is the impression I got of it too, but I think it will be special to see the story in this way.
DeleteSome wonderful titles here and lots of books that are new to me. Wide Sargasso Sea is the only one I've already read.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Definitely check a few of them out - they are (mostly) amazing! I'm excited to read Wide Sargasso Sea!
DeleteSome great adjectives that describe a good person, in general, I would say. Even "Only dull people ..." sounds interesting.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my good, bad, and ugly TTT this week.
You're welcome, it was a great post :)
DeleteYes, most of these fit under your "good" category!
I love mysteries, but I've never actually read anything by Doyle! Isn't that crazy? I think I need to do something about that and soon.
ReplyDeleteHappy TTT (on a Wednesday)!
