Book Review [ARC] || Teenage Girl Power: Practicing Journaling and Mindfulness by Adriana A. Roşca

Hi Everyone!

Welcome to the book review with the longest title I have ever seen. I mean, honestly, this is going too far!! The full title is actually "Teenage Girl Power: Practicing Journaling and Mindfulness: The Power Of A Positive Mindset to Boost Your Confidence and Change Your Life". But it wouldn't fit in the post title so I shortened it!

Anyway, thank you so much to Netgalley and BooksGoSocial for granting me access to an ARC of this book.

Synopsis:

Tony Robbins once said: “If you talk about something, it’s a dream, if you envision it, it’s possible, but if you schedule it, it’s real!”

According to Forbes’ research, girls have much lower self-esteem during their teen years. A recent study shows 29% of teens declared they are not happy and 40% are depressed.

Are you constantly bombarded by questions on what you plan on doing after high school?

Is your self-esteem dropping because your parents expect too much of you and you’re getting overwhelmed?

Does the idea of the future seem too scary to even think about… so you ignore it completely?

If you’re always pushing the idea of planning your future away, you’re not alone.

Not every teenage girl knows what she’s going to be doing after high school -- and that’s okay!

It takes time to plan these kinds of things, plus having the right mentor goes a long way.

Planning out your future success can be as easy as A-B-C -- if you know how to do it!

There are tons of ways to go about it and it might seem overwhelming at first, but writing everything down is the first step to achieving your dreams.

That’s right, Teenage Girl Power locks up all your fears and insecurities, unlocks your full potential, and unleashes the successful woman you were born to be.

From the classroom in high school to the CEO of whatever you want!

This self-sufficient guide uses the power of writing to turn your dreams into a reality.

In Teenage Girl Power, you will discover:

* The ultimate guide on how to plan your future so you don’t get left behind

* Inspirational quotes and practices that will get your life back on track before someone else decides it for you now

* The secret to understanding your emotions -- how to control what you feel, what you say, and how and when you say it

* The real reason why you aren't achieving what you want in life -- and how you can overcome these obstacles (hint: it’s time to take a look inside!)

* Finding the power of you and mapping out your life one step at a time

* The importance of gratitude and how to be grateful to the world for everything you have accomplished

* How to avoid drama and make sure that you focus on the bigger picture: Your future!

And much more.

Whether you’re almost done with high school or you’ve just begun, and you’re still a bit nervous about what to do next, don’t feel like you’ve been left in the dark.

From the depths of your emotions to the discovery of who you are, Teenage Girl Power manifests your dreams into realities.

It takes your desires and helps you turn them into plans. It turns your fears into chances and brings out the best version of yourself.

With empowering language and inspirational experience, you can forget about feeling lost and focus on the future.

This was a really interesting read, and there is a lot in here that I would like to explore further. It gives clear advice and uses repetition to make the ideas and processes stick. It is everything I expected it to be and some of the things mentioned will definitely help me.

It talks a lot about Plutchik's wheel of emotions and a few other concepts, such as the Upper Limit Problem. I found these very interesting and they are things I wouldn't have come across without this book.

It also felt very empowering and at times gave me the confidence boost I needed and I can see myself returning to it. The journal prompts were also very inspiring and made me want to start journaling.

I think this could be a very important book for many people, however there were a few issues with it for me personally. Firstly, it is not very well organised and the order of information felt a bit random. Secondly, there is a whole section about drama and being a drama queen and how much of a role that plays in teenage girls' lives. I felt like it assumed that all girls are like that and bought into a lot of stereotypes which are not true for me at least, and I'm sure others. Also, it said that we might think that journaling and mindfulness are silly and awkward, but I'm pretty sure that the people who think that wouldn't pick up the book in the first place. Some of it also felt a bit cheesy and fake to me.

However, I have taken a lot away from this book and I think that's what the author wanted. It's a book I think a lot of teenagers should read, girls in particular. I'm so glad I got to read this and recommend to anyone, teenage girl or otherwise.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this post, and I hope that some of you will consider picking up this book. Happy reading!

This year's season of Strictly Come Dancing had it's launch show last night. After a hard day at school, adding a bit of strictly magic into my day was just what I needed. So excited to watch it every Saturday night!
