My Blogging Essentials | behind the blog

Hi Everyone!

Today I wanted to take an idea from Lucy Powrie's old blog, Queen Of Contemporary. She has a post on there which I saw that is similar to this, with her blogging essentials. I love this idea and I think it will be interesting for you to get more of an insight into the process of blogging!

My Blogging Notebook

Here I write all my post ideas, memes I take part in, next posts to work on and other random stuff that really helps when I try to write a blog post. It's not a particularly pretty notebook but it's so useful and I love the fact it is squared paper inside!

The Book/Books I'm Writing About

I find that having the physical book next to me as I'm writing really helps. I can double check spelling and references and delve back into my favourite passages in the process! I sometimes end up with a stack of books on my desk when I'm part way through a post with lots of books in it such as my end of year wrap up!

Music

I either listen to instrumental focus music when I need to get something done, or I listen to music with lyrics, though I am a bit picky about which music I can cope with and which just distracts me! I also turn it down fairly low when I'm writing!

Reading Journal/Goodreads

I sometimes write a review a little while after I read the book but I may have had the chance to write a Goodreads review and possibly even in my reading journal. I always use these to cross-reference and make sure I'm including all the things I thought of in my review. If I've not written a Goodreads review I write the review on here and go back to copy it into Goodreads!

My Bookshelves

If I'm writing a post that requires a list of books such as Top Ten Tuesday, my bookshelves are the most important thing. I can easily find books I'm looking for and think of books that I hadn't previously considered. Having them near me is essential.

Canva

This is a photo editing website that you've probably heard about from YouTube ads! I didn't think it would be this good...I now primarily make my graphics on there rather than PicCollage or PicsArt. I have a whole post coming about how I edit photos and make graphics, but without Canva, my blog wouldn't look half as good!

And That's it! Then I grab a laptop and WRITE! It's pretty much my favourite thing to do and I'm so happy to have you all here to support me!

Let's chat!

What are your blogging essentials? Do you have any that I haven't included? Did any of these surprise you?
