Hi Everyone!
I got a number of books and other book related things for Christmas so today I wanted to share them with you as a book and bookish item haul!
The Books:
I'm going to start with the books I chose and knew about. After visiting my new local independent bookshop, I got The Literary Almanac by Francessca Beauman. This is a book of book recommendations for each season, which also ties in nicely to my goal of reading more seasonal books in general. It's also beautiful and I can't wait to discover lots of wonderful books through it!
I also specifically asked for The Brontes: a life in letters by Juliet Barker. This is a collection of letters that the Brontes wrote to their various correspondents including Charlotte's friend Ellen Nussey and their publishers. I can't wait to delve into these and find out more about their fascinating lives. I love not only their novels but also learning about the lives that they led: everything from their parsonage home to Emily and Charlotte's time in Brussels. I love it all and have become quite a big Bronte fan!
I also found out about a graphic novel series called 'Les Cahiers D'Esther' which is in French and about a girl growing up. Each volume is for a different year in her life and I got volumes 4 and 5 covering the ages of 13 and 14. I'm so excited to read these!
The last one I knew about was With The Fire On High by Elizabeth Acevedo. This is another book by an author I've really been getting into recently. You can see my review of The Poet X by clicking here! I don't know much about it but I am very excited to have another one of her novels to read!
My family then gifted me other books which was so nice! The first one I got with my parents and it is A Poem For Every Autumn Day. My sister has Poem For Every Winter Day and she got given Poem For Every Summer Day so if there is a Spring one then that is the only one we are missing between us!
I also received Lasting Lines by Jamie Grant which I've read a bit of and LOVE. It is a collection of 100 poems and poets that you should know with information about them and a snippet of their work. It's also beautiful and a great addition to my poetry collection!
Another book that was given to me was Migration by Melissa Mayntz, which as you may have guessed is about bird migration. It's another beautiful one and it looks really interesting.
I also got Tiny Histories by Dixe Wills. This is a book about 'trivial events and trifling decisions that changed British history'. I'm really looking forward to reading it!
The Adventure of the Christmas Pudding by Agatha Christie was another present and I think I will save it for next Christmas, as part of my goal to read more seasonal books. I can never have enough Agatha Christie books!
Another Christmas related one was Christmas Days by Jeanette Winterson, which is a collection of Christmas short stories with recipes and anecdotes mixed in. This is one I will also save for next Christmas but I may get to some of the stories before the end of the holidays!
This one I got as a joint present with my sister. It is The Song That Sings Us by Nicola Davis. This is about Harlon who has been raised to look out for his siblings. But when the Automators attack their home, they must flee for their lives. It seems very intriguing and I'm sure that when I get to it there will be a review on here!
That's it for the books! I did get three book tokens too so I'm sure I'll have fun in a bookshop before too long!
The Other Bookish Items:
I also got a number of bookish items, so I thought I would mention them too. The first one is something I LOVE. I think I'll just insert the picture.
Need I say more?
I also LOVE the next things (yes, plural!). It has a relation to a book I read recently and loved and I now love these items to bits!!! Again, I think I will let an image talk for me...
This is the tote bag, but there is also a beautiful pencil case which I'm using for an annotation pouch and a pin badge which I can't wait to wear and show my love for this book!
Here are all the bookish items I got... |
I was also given a bookmark which is always handy: you can never have too many bookmarks! I got some fairy lights to go on my bookshelf- I've been wanting some for a while now. Another thing I've wanted for a while is a bookend and I also got one for Christmas! I love the calendar too: it has pictures of stunning book shops for each month!
If you gave me any of these, thank you so much!
Let's chat!
What books or bookish items did you get for Christmas? Do you have any of these?
Happy Reading!
