Hi Everyone!
5 Books That...is a feature on my blog where I talk about five books that have something in common or can be grouped together for a certain reason. I usually do about one a month but there is no fixed schedule.
Welcome to another 5 books that post! In this instalment, I want to share 5 books that made me emotional. This may be crying, it may just be shock at the ending but they all made me feel a strong emotion! Enjoy :)
1. The Paper and Hearts Society: Bookishly Ever After by Lucy Powrie
If you've been following me for a while, you probably know I love Lucy Powrie! Her books mean so much to me and the last instalment made me cry. I made a whole category dedicated to The Paper and Hearts Society which you can view in Categories- The Paper and Hearts Society. I can't express my love for this book in any other way than how much it means to me and how much I wish the characters were my friends! I love them all so much and this just ended the series so perfectly.
2. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
This book, this book, this book.....WOW! It's my favourite book of all time and it's just a masterpiece. Jane is so strong and I aspire to be like her! This book mainly shocked me with the ending! If you've read it or seen an adaptation you probably know what I mean...It just made me read faster to find out what happened! My heart started beating faster and faster and I was speechless! I love this book with my whole heart! ♥
3. All The Things We Never Said by Yasmin Rahman
This book broke my heart but also mended it with the power of friendship and I know I've talked about it a lot already but it really touched me and I found it relatable because several of the pressures that Cara, Mehreen and Olivia are put under I have experienced and I think they are very real people. The ending of this book broke me but in a beautiful way.
4. Rebecca by Daphne DuMaurier
Again: the ending just ruined me. The last sentence and last paragraph...I started saying 'no, no...what? How? no, no! Please don't leave it there!' It's safe to say it really impacted me and I just wanted more and to know what happens next! If you want a book that keeps you on your toes then this is perfect, every time you think 'it's okay now' something happens that shocks you or makes you tear up!
5. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
This is another beautiful book with a heartbreaking ending but one that is so powerful. I read this last summer but it feels like an age ago so I definately need a re-read at some point, though you can never re-live that moment again! It's just a bit scary to re-read it as it is rather long! Anyway, another one that made me feel for the characters so much.
That's just a selection of books that made me cry or just shocked me! I would love to know which books make you cry, or if books make you emotional at all? Happy Reading!
